Aljouder and Vardi introduce readers to the magical world of Evora. As with other fantasy novels, Evora has its share of mystical creatures and characters. The young protagonists, Jaci and Sebastian, were both born under the pink moon of prophecy. What this means is not fully revealed in this first novel of the trilogy. Both teenagers are surrounded by intriguing characters which makes the book very entertaining. All the characters have their share of secrets, though.
The novel is a fun read and I look forward to the revelations in the future stories. Chelsea Mann's cover and interior illustrations are whimsical and absolutely lovely. I hope she will be involved with the rest of the trilogy.
I'm a big fan of fantasy novels and when my friend recommended Evora I was very skeptical at first. All of my reservations were blasted away as soon as I started reading. The world of Evora is rich, wondrous, and very original. I had a lot of trouble sleeping that evening as I kept allowing myself just one more chapter.
The characters are a delight to follow as they navigate their intertwining destinies while the evil forces arrayed against them begin to plot their doom. The authors do a wonderful job of capturing their innocence and strength as they fumble through all the secrets and challenges that keep this book exciting and such a pleasure to read.
I would highly recommend this book to those that enjoy fantasy / coming of age novels. Now to wait for the sequels...
